CAPE COD, MA — The local branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) will make quite a scene next week, donning water-related costumes to campaign against bottled water companies, according to a March 16 article in the Cape Cod Chronicle.
The "Water Women," as they call themselves, have launched a three-year campaign aimed at educating people about water-related issues; the campaign will kick off with street theatre presentations in cape communities on March 22, followed by an informational meeting, the article said.
According to the article, WILPF understands there is a need for bottled water, but says EPA standards for tap water are stricter than FDA standards for bottled water; the organization's brochure says about 14 percent of plastic water bottles are recycled, creating too much pollution.
Every month in Water Technology Magazine, "Professor POU/POE" answers reader questions about point-of-use/point-of-entry water treatment.
