Sludge grinders

JWC Environmental has introduced its new Sludge Monster® grinder – built to protect sludge pumps, heat exchangers, centrifuges and other dewatering equipment from clogging with rags and debris. The in-line system uses the same low speed, high-torque design as the bigger Muffin Monster®, but in a compact and economical package. The grinder produces three times the torque and five times the cutting force of high-speed macerators. A 2-hp motor generates all the torque needed to shred rag balls and trash into small particles. Suspended solids monitoring

MJK’s Susix® Monitor continuously measures suspended solids with +/-3% correlation to laboratory tests. It is ideal for sludge thickening, clarifier and sludge recirculation applications to optimize system performance and lower energy costs.MJK, www.mjk.com

Cake Pump

The seepex BTH cake pump design allows flow rates up to 220 gpm at pressures up to 540 psi. An auger pushes the cake into the pumping element. The pitch, diameter and speed of the auger can be adjusted to match the application. A customizable open hopper along with controls for dry running protection, load cell sensors, pressure gauge and boundary layer injection completes the system. The system has low capital, operating and maintenance costs and does not pulsate. Seepex Inc., www.seepex.com

Sludge pumping

The Moyno® 2000 HS System features an integral hopper with a twin-screw auger feeder and specially

designed progressing cavity pump that handles high solids, dewatered municipal sludge to over 50 percent solids. The system can pump filter cake further distances with higher volumetric efficiencies than many other progressing cavity pumps. Its twin-screw feeder supplies a constant, pressurized feed rate to the pump resulting in a 100 percent pump cavity fill rate. It is an alternative to piston pumps and conveyors for dewatered sludge transfer. Moyno Inc.,www.moyno.com

Sludge dewatering

BDP Industries is a supplier of sludge dewatering equipment. The company began designing and fabricating equipment over 35 years ago. The company has more than 1,000 operating belt presses throughout the world. The company’s products include gravity belt thickeners, belt presses, rotary drum concentrators, lime stabilization systems, and mobile dewatering equipment. BDP Industries, www.bdpindustries.com

Rotary fan press

The Rotary Fan Press from Prime Solution uses continuous pressure and a rotational speed of less than 1 rpm to dewater sludge and slurries. The system is enclosed, automated, low maintenance, has a long service life and is energy efficient. It is also portable and expandable. Several capacities are available to meet flow applications of all sizes. The compact design simplifies installation. Skid mounted systems include a central operator control panel, feed pump, chemical prep, inline mixing and the availability of plant integrated controls as standard. Mobile systems can be containerized or trailer mounted. Prime Solution Inc., www.psirotary.com

Screening, grinding

The Dimminutor® Turbo model from Franklin Miller provides automatic screening and grinding of wastewater solids in straight-through channels and wet wells. The system reduces plastics, wood, rags and other solids to fine bits, enhancing plant operation and improving the reliability of pumps and other downstream equipment. It employs a smooth, continuously rotating design with high torque. As its three bidirectional rotary cutters intermesh at close clearance with stationary cutters, solids are reduced to a size small enough to pass through a new ultra-precision sizing screen. With no gaps or openings between the screen and cutters, output is controlled and complete reduction assured. Franklin Miller Inc., www.franklinmiller.com

Sludge reduction

BioSpikes™ 4000, available from Novozymes Biologicals, offers a new way to minimize settled sludge volume and reduce solids handling costs in wastewater lagoons. The product contains microorganisms, powerful enzymes, and essential micronutrients and is made via a process that creates a dense spike that rapidly sinks to the bottom of a lagoon, even when applied at the water’s surface. This simplifies dosing and ensures contact between the microorganisms and the sludge layer. The combination of microorganisms, enzymes and micronutrients ensures rapid stimulation of biological activity and reduction of the sludge layer. Screw press

The Huber RoS3Q Inclined Screw Press is designed for dewatering municipal and industrial sludge and biosolids. With its slow rotating auger the press can handle the toughest sludge. The system offers fully automatic operation, and can quietly run unattended 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Huber Technology, https://www.huber-technology.com/
