Pipe protection
Folmar™ Pipe Protection from Great Water Tech is a silicate-based mineral solution that prevents corrosion, scale, metal leeching, and the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs) throughout all levels of water infrastructure. The formulation creates an ultra-thin, super-hard glass layer on the interior of the pipe wall, which separates the metal and water. In addition to preventing corrosion and contamination, Folmar Pipe Protection fills and seals small cracks and crevices, maintaining the integrity of the piping system.
Rivertop Renewables’ sodium glucarate has been listed on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Chemicals Ingredients List (SCIL). Chemicals on the SCIL have been certified by the EPA as safer than traditional chemical ingredients, helping formulators secure the Safer Choice label for end products sold to industry and consumers. Rivertop’s product is the first chemical with corrosion-inhibiting properties to secure full approval for the SCIL. Sodium glucarate is said to enable superior performance from two Rivertop products. Waterline™ CI is designed to be a high-performing alternative to phosphorus-based corrosion inhibitors in the water treatment industry.
Polyethylene Encasement (Polywrap) protects ductile iron pipe, valves, and fittings from corrosion. Protection is achieved by creating a barrier between the corrosive solid and the pipe. The wrap also has a high dielectric strength, making it ideal for protection against stray currents in the ground that also may contribute to premature corrosion. Polywrap is easily installed by the contractor hired to lay the pipe and requires no special training to install and no ongoing maintenance like other corrosion protection methods. Quality of the wrap is strictly maintained by the ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5 standard.
Cortec Corporation has developed a new Super Barrier version of its EcoShield® VpCI®-144 paper for protecting metal parts from corrosion. It combines the corrosion protection of VpCI paper coating with a high-gloss, water-based barrier coating that prevents moisture from reaching metal parts wrapped inside the paper. The Super Barrier combines corrosion protection, moisture barrier properties, and oil and grease resistivity into one material to protect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This eliminates the need to inventory multiple types of papers for different types of metal.
The Cosasco® Bluetooth® Suite enables the user to configure and collect corrosion and erosion data wirelessly with Bluetooth-enabled dataloggers, readers, and a data transfer unit. The Cosasco Bluetooth Converter adapts legacy instruments to communicate wirelessly with a handheld Transfer Unit, the only tool needed to configure and collect data from any Cosasco Bluetooth-enabled monitoring technology, including Microcor® ER, Electrical Resistance (ER), Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR) and Ultracorr® (Ultrasonic).
Chemline offers an advanced line of rapid-curing polyurethane coating systems specifically engineered for water pipelines (both potable and wastewater). The unique chemistry provides long-term protection against corrosion, abrasion, impact and other mechanical damage in a highly challenging environment - nearly constant submersion in water with varying temperature, alkalinity, pH, mineral content and/or dissolved solids. Chemline coatings have been formulated to offer excellent flexibility to withstand the movement associated with the installation of pipelines. Chemline coatings build quickly and smoothly to desired thickness. Cure times are fast, making them ideal for OEMs who want to increase throughput.
