The AMS Multi-Stage Sampler can be used to collect sludge samples up to 4 feet in thickness. The sampler has four stainless steel x 12" sampler body sections (a base section and three sampler body extension sections) to allow field personnel to make a sampler to the length that is needed. The kit comes with three 4 foot SS extensions that allow users to deploy the sampler through 12 feet of water before reaching the sediment. Dredges may also be used to collect samples from the top 4" of the sludge. The Ekman Dredge is used for sampling benthic communities inhabiting soft bottomed aquatic environments.
