PARIS — Schneider Electric will join UN Women’s HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 pilot group to promote gender equality, according to a press release.
Schneider Electric also won the 2015 Leadership Award as part of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) from UN Women and the Global Compact, noted the release.
HeForshe was launched in Sept. 20, 2014, to encourage men to support diversity and women’s rights efforts, stated the release. It aims “to mobilize ‘a billion men by July 2015’ to help communities around the world [design] sustainable change program in favor of gender equality.”
IMPACT 10x10x10 is a new UN Women initiative targeting 10 governments, 10 companies and 10 universities throughout the world to join its pilot group, reported the release. It also encourages public and private organizations to join HeForShe.
Schneider Electric joins Accor Hotels, the Koç Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Tupperware Brands and Unilever in the group, shared the release.
“Our ambition is to become one of the most diverse [companies],” said Olivier Blum, Schneider Electric chief human resources officer, in the release. “At Schneider Electric, we value differences and offer equal opportunities to everyone, everywhere. Identifying, developing and attracting female talents is a business imperative and is high in our agenda for the coming years.”
“We strongly believe we will make significant progress only if our male employees commit to becoming spokespersons of this transformation by advocating gender equality,” continued Blum in the release. “Joining and promoting the HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 program is a great opportunity to accelerate our program and contribute to society.”
As part of its commitment to the program, Schneider Electric has agreed to increase representation of women in its company, implement a salary equity process and involve group leaders worldwide, noted the release.
