NEW YORK — A ReportLinker study projects the water treatment chemicals market to grow 3.2 percent year to $7.3 billion in 2019, according to a press release.
The increase in water recycling and reuse will contribute to the growth, noted the release. Other factors include more reliance on equipment such as membranes, tighter standards and environmental concerns about chemicals.
Professionals are using more disinfection equipment, which will limit biocide demand, stated the release. Shifts in regulation, public opinion and higher standards also support this change.
Equipment that requires the chemical pretreatment of water will grow demand for chemicals including corrosion and scale inhibitors, foam control agents and chelating agents, reported the release. Coagulants and flocculants are projected to rise.
The research reveals the municipal and manufacturing chemical markets to represent the bulk of demand, shared the release. The municipal sector tends to be slower to change and more price sensitive.
Additional markets expected to show growth are the electric power generation and energy, mining and mineral processing sectors, noted the release.
