MOBILE, Ala. — A proposal for a 45 mile long oil pipeline going through parts of Mobile County, including through a local watershed, has officials concerned, according to Fox 10 TV News.
A portion of the $45 million pipeline would run through the watershed draining into Big Creek Lake, which is the drinking water supply for Mobile, Ala., noted the article.
"We think the risk to our drinking water supply is non-negotiable," said Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson.
Officials said Mobile County drinking water supply is something they’ve tried hard to guard and protect and will continue to do so, stated the article.
"If we can mitigate or eliminate the risk to our drinking water supply, that's our goal," Hudson said.
