The SAMSON CONTROLS' Type 3291 valve, Type 3730-6 valve positioners have been designed for challenging fluids handling applications, such as those in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries where systems are required to operate under severe operating conditions. These devices have recently been enhanced to include the benefits of the proven V-port plug and clamped-in seat features along with smooth interior valve surfaces. According to the manufacturer, the latter help to prevent the build-up of deposits and therefore reduce the potential for the valves to be affected by clogging. The type 3730-6 positioner with HART® communication is a further development of the successful Series 3730 positioners. The standard version is supplied with the proven EXPERTplus valve diagnostics that allow the entire operating cycle of control valves used in throttling or on/off service to be monitored. Another feature is partial stroke testing (PST) that provides information on whether shut-off valves function properly on demand and can be started by hand or automatically. Samson Controls said diagnostic data can be read "much faster due to the improved HART communication and emergency shutdown is guaranteed in accordance with IEC 61508 up to SIL 3 which eliminates the need for an additional solenoid valve".

Glass Reinforced Plastic air release valves
Dorot Control Valves has released a sew series of Air Release Valves, DAV-MP, that are complementary to the existing line of Air Release Valves. The Series includes 3 Air Release Valves all meeting a working pressure of PN25. The valves, developed by Dorot's R&D department, are made of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) with a steel casing and can be placed in various locations along the pipe based on various hydraulic considerations. They allow the release of large quantities of air during the initial filling of the system, intake large quantities of air during the drainage of the pipe preventing the pipe implosion and introduction of external contaminants. The automatic and combination versions allow release of air from a water filled pipe under pressure.

Fire safe approved valve range
The Flowserve Corporation's NAF® Duball DL valve product range now includes certified fire-safe design and Pressure Nominal (PN) rated versions. The fire safe design is the latest addition to the existing full bore, NAF Duball DL valve product range. The fire safe design was successfully tested and certified according to API 607, 6th Edition, and ISO 10947:2010. Further enhancements of the NAF Duball DL product range include the release of PN-rated versions. The DL is now available in the PN10, PN16, PN25 and PN40 pressure ratings in addition to the ANSI class 150 and 300 pressure ratings. The NAF Duball DL ball valve can be used in automated on/off applications and is equally suitable for a wide range of control applications. The ball valve's spring-loaded packing remains tight for a greater number of cycles, virtually eliminating the need for manual retightening of the packing. Floweserve said the mechanical backlash is minimized by the uniquely designed long connection between the ball and stem, which the manufacturer said is especially important in control applications.
