Dec. 3, 2010 -- North Carolina has revoked Alcoa Inc.'s water quality certificate after water quality regulators became suspicious that the company had not been truthful about its water quality operations.

Alcoa operates power-generating dams along the Yadkin River and must have an active water quality certificate if it is to obtain a new 50-year license to continue those operations.
